Upstream Strategies to Reduce Feral Kitten Populations

This grant funded staff time to identify kitten hot spots in the Detroit area, along with the educational materials used to reach them. The neighborhoods with the highest concentrations of community cats and kittens received targeted education on TNR and kitten care, including information mailed directly to residents through their water bills and a public service announcement, reaching more than 30,000 households! In one kitten season, the grant impacted 1,749 kittens, supported by a network of 216 foster families, with a knock-on effect for years to come as TNR works to reduce the number of kittens born into these communities.
