This grant gave the team a way to bring in kittens born outside who needed care.
Instead of leaving them behind while the team trapped and neutered the adult cats in the colony, the team brought in kittens from newborn to 8 weeks old who needed help to survive. Each one went to a foster home or the kitten nursery. Through their first 8 weeks, they received vaccinations, a microchip, flea and parasite treatment, and care for common kitten ailments like upper respiratory infections and diarrhea. The adult cats were trapped, neutered, and returned right back to where they were found.
In all, 100 kittens who needed care came in off the streets.
One of those rescues began with a community member who found a litter of orphaned kittens in their yard. They knew exactly who to call, and the team stepped in right away. The kittens moved into foster homes, where they received the medical attention they needed.
