In neighborhoods where help for community cats was limited or nonexistent, kittens kept turning up with nowhere to go. This grant gave them a path to safety.
A grassroots group that worked with cat caretakers in underserved neighborhoods partnered with a shelter that had a full medical, foster, and adoption program. Each week, the group brought in kittens under 8 weeks old who might never have reached the shelter. Every kitten received vaccines, deworming, and any medical care needed, then went to a foster home and, once healthy, on to adoption.
In all, 107 kittens were served through the partnership, and many went on to forever homes. The standing weekly appointment also gave both teams a more reliable way to plan.
