Only a handful of foster homes in this rescue’s network had the setup to safely take in kittens with infectious diseases like panleukopenia. That meant during peak kitten season, when litters need placement the most, options ran out fast. A shelter grant changed that. It funded playpens with lids and an incubator, giving foster homes the tools to safely take on the kittens who need the most protection. Now fragile neonatal litters that would have been at high risk of euthanasia have somewhere safe to go. Infectious kittens can be isolated and treated without putting other foster animals at risk. 230 kittens have been impacted so far, and this equipment isn’t going anywhere. It’ll keep giving kittens a fighting chance for years to come.
