A $40,000 grant funded two dedicated staff positions for neonatal kitten care, giving a shelter seven-day-a-week coverage focused exclusively on underage kittens and foster placement.
Before the grant, staff from multiple departments were pulled away from their regular duties to bottle-feed and monitor neonates, making it hard to keep consistent feeding schedules and disrupting other operations. With dedicated staff in place, the shelter was able to strengthen its foster program, recruiting and training more volunteers and equipping them with the supplies to succeed.
