In a shelter, even common illnesses like diarrhea, ringworm, and URI can quickly become life-threatening for kittens. This project set out to change how they are treated.
New treatment standards helped kittens recover faster and with less stress. The grant funded Famciclovir for URI, Itrafungol for ringworm, GI Biome food for chronic diarrhea, and Nutribullets for food prep. Recovery times dropped so much that kittens reached the adoption floor faster than ever, and new surgical packs meant the influx of healthy kittens could be spayed and neutered sooner.
The impact: 248 kittens helped, including 116 treated for diarrhea, 106 for URI, and 26 for ringworm. This grant provided proof of concept for these new protocols, which will help more kittens in future seasons.
