When a foster kitten declines at night, there needs to be a plan to get help fast. This project paired dedicated staff with overnight emergency vet reimbursement so foster families could act without hesitation.
A new team member, John, strengthened foster coordination, medical oversight, and caregiver support, and helped send kittens out the door to foster. The grant also reimbursed foster families for overnight emergency vet care and supplied heating pads, thermometers, and foster kit materials for temperature regulation, feeding, and daily care.
In one kitten season, this grant helped 5,855 kittens and 1,410 foster families. Fosters treated hundreds of kittens at home for panleukopenia, URI, ringworm, and diarrhea instead of relying on long shelter stays. The result is a stronger safety net for foster kittens and the people who care for them.
