Kira’s Fund helped 15-year-old foster Kathryn create a nursery at home. The grant stocked the space with an incubator, a playpen for keeping groups safely separate, feeding tubes, bottles, nipples, formula, wet food, and toys. In one kitten season over 20 kittens were saved in this new space.
Talia was one of them. She and her brother Niko came into Kathryn’s care at three days old, and Talia’s back leg had been injured by an umbilical knot. Kathryn tube fed both kittens every two hours, and the incubator helped Talia through her toughest days. At 12 days old, Talia had surgery to remove the damaged part of her leg, and by almost four weeks it had healed.
