A new kids’ club, Kids Interested in Rescuing Animals, gave young animal lovers a place to learn how to help kittens. The first class welcomed 10 children under age 10 for a snack, a presentation, a meet and greet with an animal, and games. They left with homework: a list of ways to help animals, with stamps for each one they completed.
The kids were excited enough to share what they learned with their schools, families, and friends, and every one of them asked to come back. Their top question for the next class: how do cats jump so high? Classes quickly filled up, with sessions on TNR, kitten season, and health and safety on the schedule.
The club is named for Kira Serisky, a beloved teen foster parent whose legacy lives on through Kira’s Fund.
