Before this grant, exams and treatments happened on a fold-out table in the kitchen. Now the rescue has the Whisker Wellness Center, a dedicated medical space. The center has a treatment suite, exam and treatment tables, a sink, and a hospital room connected to the building generator so care can continue through any power outage. It’s equipped with an incubator and nebulizer, two oxygen concentrators, and a medical director was hired to oversee it all.
Kittens now get intake exams, weekly checkups, treatments, and surgical recovery in one place, and a quarantine space helps keep infections from spreading. This support helped the rescue’s survival rate rise from 93% to 96%, and about 400 kittens benefited.
