KC Pet Project launched its own Full Circle Program, inspired by the model developed by Orphan Kitten Club in San Diego. Rather than reinventing the wheel, the team adopted this proven strategy to create meaningful, community-wide change in Kansas City. A $25,000 grant made it possible to hire a dedicated Full Circle Program Manager to lead the effort and strengthen this lifesaving work.
Using intake data, the team mapped local cat colonies and prepared for targeted trapping efforts. Trapping kits were assembled, and trained volunteers were deployed to trap adult cats, ensuring they were trapped, neutered, and returned (TNR).
This program is already making a significant impact—reducing the number of orphaned kittens entering the shelter and creating a more sustainable future for community cats.
