A Purr-fect Start

Project Name: A Purr-fect Start
Organization: Laurel Cats, Inc.
Location: Maryland

After a disease outbreak wiped out their supplies, one rescue set out to rebuild stronger, starting with the foster network.

The project restocked bottle-feeding kits, medications, and cleaning supplies, and added quarantine enclosures, incubators, and rapid-response medical kits with testing supplies, PPE, and tools for immediate care. New sanitation and quarantine protocols helped limit the spread of URI, parasites, and other illnesses.

Eleven new kitten fosters joined the team, easing the load on long-time volunteers. Three new incubators gave bottle babies better odds from day one.

So far, 150 kittens have been helped and the save rate has risen 8%. With stronger protocols and fosters ready to say yes to fragile kittens many more little lives will be saved!
