Wyll was found living under a house with what appeared to be a strangely shaped chest. It turned out to be pectus excavatum, a congenital condition causing the sternum and rib cage to be sunken inward, leaving his heart and lungs without enough room to grow. His surgical team at Texas A&M performed the procedure laparoscopically, a novel technique for this rare surgery, and it was a success. In recovery, Wyll made his feelings about confinement very clear, breaking out of several enclosures just to be close to his people.
