Stewie arrived as a scraggly six-week-old and thrived in foster care, but a few days after his neuter surgery he became seriously ill, refusing to eat and suffering from diarrhea and vomiting. A follow-up exam revealed a tubular mass in his abdomen. He had developed intussusception, a condition where part of the intestine telescopes into itself, and needed emergency surgery to survive. After surgery Stewie was back to his playful self, begging for pets and food. After a week of cage rest he was cleared for adoption, and it didn’t take long for someone to fall in love. Stewie found his forever home.
