Melvin

Melvin was rescued with his siblings at just a few days old, but it soon became clear he wasn’t progressing at the same rate. His growth was slower, his breathing rapid and shallow, and his chest visibly abnormal. X-rays confirmed severe pectus excavatum, his chest sunken inward and pressing on his heart and lungs. Under one pound, he began intensive care immediately: syringe feedings, oxygen support, and round-the-clock monitoring. Once strong enough, he underwent surgery to correct his chest, giving his tiny body the room it needed to breathe and grow. Melvin fought hard every single day, and it paid off.
