Macaroni was found in a rural area in rough shape, likely mauled by an animal, with a large open leg wound that had been festering for weeks. His rescuers knew surgery was necessary, but the infection was so severe he wasn’t strong enough to withstand it. He spent several days hospitalized, receiving IV fluids and medication just to build up the strength he needed. Once stable, he underwent a long and complex surgery, followed by two months of weekly bandage changes and antibiotics as his wound continued to heal. Macaroni’s leg made a full recovery, and this lucky little noodle found his forever home.
