Jumba

Jumba was rescued battling a severe upper respiratory infection so intense that his eyelids were too swollen to even examine his eyes. After time in foster care with antibiotics and medicated eye drops, his eyes finally opened. The damage revealed a descemetocele, the deepest type of corneal ulcer, sitting right at the edge of rupture. Remarkably, his cornea had not perforated, meaning his eye could still be saved. A conjunctival pedicle graft surgery, using the eye’s own tissue to support healing and preserve vision, was performed successfully. Jumba recovered smoothly, was medically cleared shortly after, and was adopted into a loving home with his vision intact.
