Hazel

Location: Virginia
Condition: Enucleation
Organization: Lynchburg Humane Society

Hazel arrived at just 1.36 pounds with two ruptured, infected eyes. Her veterinary team determined that a double enucleation was the best path forward and moved quickly given her small size. Hazel came through surgery and recovered beautifully in foster care.

Her fosters are quick to point out that losing her eyes hasn’t slowed her down one bit. If anything, it gave her more confidence. She climbs stairs without hesitation, fearlessly jumps onto furniture to be with her people, and shows up for morning snuggles without fail. Hazel was adopted the same day she graduated from foster care.
