Franklin was suspected to have hydrocephalus. At the vet, his brain was found to be normal, but a loud heart murmur was detected. Before his cardiac consult, he had an acute respiratory episode requiring oxygen and medication, and a chest X-ray revealed a diaphragmatic hernia and a collapsed lung.

Franklin underwent surgery, which improved his condition though it didn’t fully resolve it. He continued treatment in an oxygen cage with breathing treatments and chest wall therapy, staying active and playful throughout his recovery.
