Benny & Little Frankie

Location: California
Condition: Hospitalization
Organization: Orphan Kitten Project

Benny and Little Frankie arrived with their littermates in rough shape, diagnosed with severe flea anemia and requiring blood transfusions just to survive. Sadly, two of their siblings didn’t make it. The brothers were placed with an experienced foster, but despite supportive care at home they struggled to gain weight and battled severe diarrhea. When lethargy and vomiting set in, both were rushed back to the emergency vet.

At the hospital they received IV fluids, dextrose, and constant blood glucose monitoring. Both were consistently hypoglycemic, with suspected damage to their intestinal lining preventing them from absorbing nutrients. After several days of intensive care, Little Frankie stabilized first and was discharged to his foster home, where his appetite came back and his weight climbed fast. His foster reported he was finally acting and playing like an actual kitten. Benny fought on, receiving the care he needed until he was well enough to go home.
