When Angelo was three weeks he was noticeably smaller than his sister. A medical check revealed pectus excavatum, a flattened ribcage affecting his breathing. His case was one of the most extreme the team had seen.
Once he grew strong enough, Angelo underwent surgery to attach an external splint that expanded his ribs to a normal position. The surgery was a success, and his ribcage returned to nearly normal.
