Kitten season arrives all at once, and the kittens who need help most can’t wait while a team hunts for supplies. This grant made sure the team was ready before the first kitten came through the door.
The grant stocked bottles, nipples, heating discs, and formula, and it replaced worn playpens used to isolate sick kittens in foster homes. The nursery was set up, incubators were ready, and kitten kits were packed. As soon as a kitten finished a health assessment, it could head to a foster home with everything needed, no scrambling required.
In all, 631 neonatal kittens under 7 weeks old came into care. That was about 70 a month, and most were bottle babies. Staff called it their most prepared kitten season, and the least exhausting one yet.
