Ekko

Location: Texas
Condition: Hospitalization
Organization: Six Kittens Rescue

Ekko and his two tiny sisters were found cold, starving, and alone. They were brought in dehydrated and underweight but still fighting. Supportive care began immediately, and at first they responded well. On the third day, all three developed severe diarrhea, and Ekko declined rapidly, vomiting, lethargic, and unable to stay hydrated. He was rushed to an emergency vet and hospitalized.

Bloodwork revealed extreme dehydration, low potassium, intestinal distress, and a heavy coccidia infection. For nearly a week Ekko received round-the-clock care including antiprotozoal medications and IV fluids. Slowly his spark returned, and the day he was discharged he lit up when reunited with his sisters, playing and purring like he’d never missed a beat.
