In rural communities, tiny kittens often have nowhere to turn. This grant funded two Kitten Care Coordinators who became that place. They gave rural shelters and community members who found neonatal kittens one number to call, with trained fosters, supplies, and know-how ready to go.
The neonatal foster network grew from 12 homes to 38, 60 foster kits went out the door, and every person who asked for help was connected to supplies, training, or a foster. In all, 620 kittens were impacted.
Today, the community has a one-stop shop for anyone who finds kittens, and this grant laid the groundwork to keep that work going.
