Kira’s Fund was created in memory of Kira Serisky, a beloved teen foster parent, which made it a perfect match for a project that teaches kids to care for kittens. A Kitten’s Journey and Kindness Club brought kitten welfare education to kids in this community.
The grant funded video that follows a kitten from intake to foster care to adoption and a downloadable Kindness Club toolkit, including the foster care handbook for kids with a section on kitten welfare. Packed with puzzles, games, and art activities, it teaches kids about kitten care and fostering. Families, teachers, and Girl Scout groups were already putting it to use.
Foster families help care for more than 1,000 kittens each year, and these free resources will keep growing the next generation of kitten lovers.
